Nobody likes pain, but pain shows us the real from the false. It is a hard truth and a baseline of reality. We either face the pain willingly or let it come chase us down kicking and screaming. We can either love ourselves in a way that embraces pain, or we can convince ourselves that pain is gone forever. However we look at it, pain is something special for the human race. It is a great unifier. Young old, rich, poor, everyone faces some form of pain. Kids are left to go to school and be judged ridiculed and criticized. Adults go to work and get berated, under appreciated and underpaid. Even economically independent adults can be treated poorly from their coworkers, friends or spouses.
No Stranger to Pain
Nobody is a stranger to pain. But to say that it doesn’t serve a purpose is to say that silence has no purpose. Every function of reality is a reminder. You either stay in balance or get swallowed up by the ocean of difficulty that is society. You can stand on the shore and grab water with a cup, you can raft on the river or you can dive right into the torrents. The choice is yours. None of this will allow you to avoid pain, but some people prefer a different challenge setting in life, one with less pain and less risk. Others just dive in the center of the waterfall and hope for the best.
Wherever you land on the risk scale, remember that pain was sent as your ally, not your foe. It serves to make you remember that the soul is the thing you should trust first because this world has a thousand and one ways to send you into a difficult headspace. Only the soul lifts us past the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual drama that ensues in life.
