Transitioning out of a working world based on fulfilling someone else’s dream is a difficult thing for many people to wrap their head around…Short of being hypnotized into thinking everything is just ok in our lives like Peter was in Office Space, we might have to start looking at some other viable alternatives to rectifying the situation in the modern working world.
All our lives we are taught that life is about getting good grades, being well-liked and making sure that we are useful functionaries in society… We certainly were not able to grade ourselves, nor were we able to choose what people thought about us, nor are we able to dictate exactly which job we are able to ascertain out in the real world. We can do our best in all of these areas, but ultimately some of these questions are left to other forces, call them what you will.
Lesson Number 1… You are not fully in control of your reality… If you were, you wouldn’t have been born into a place which forced you into such constrictive roles from birth onwards… You wouldn’t have to deal with a crappy job because you could just print money as you saw fit and your life would be a giant theme park of things you always wanted to do.
Lesson Number 2… You can be a free individual, but you have to earn it…I do believe you can attain true personal, spiritual, and vocational freedom but you have to pay your dues… Why is Mark Cuban so respected? Because he always tries his best and he hasn’t made a reputation for himself based on screwing people or throwing other peoples money away.
Looking at a way different vein, why are spiritual leaders remembered from Eons? Well, it’s because during their heyday they gave an all-out effort from their entire being, from which they were able to free themselves of many of the delusions of the human race. Thereby they were able to transcend this reality in a meaningful way.
Whatever your lifelong objectives are in spirituality, business, or otherwise you have to earn it. Working for other peoples dreams is one thing, but working for your own dreams will challenge your entire being. As the path of the true individual is much more difficult than just someone punching in, and punching out at some 9-5.
These are the commonsensical things that people used to understand but have since become lost behind media promises of getting rich quick, becoming some form of instant porn star celeb, or any number of unsavory role models popping up on every other corner in our spiritually delusional society.
Lesson 3…… If you let go of your boss, you will soon have to face another boss, the dictator inside your own mind. Carl Jung would describe this as the shadow self, or the inner dictator. The voice in your own head that’s going to tell you that you’re not good enough, nothing ever going to work, or you’re never going to get out of the hole… All of us have it, its the collective voice of all that the unethical authority figures we have known over the years. A voice we then internalized to be our own oppressor. Until you can win the battle against this inner dictator you will be doomed to repeating old patterns, while facing self-sabotage and failure in varying degrees.
If we are able to let go of this whole self-repressive form of business taking place in the outside world. We will first need to start to conquer ourselves, which entails taking a long hard look into the mirror of the self. The most tyrannical Mr. Lumberg you will ever meet, is looking at you in the mirror day-in-day-out. So start to talk to him, let him know your true thoughts and make peace with whatever circumstances that you find yourself in, at this time and place. Start to befriend your career difficulties and always remember that when you’re on a planet ruled by Murphy’s Law, nothing’s easy!
I personally think that one of the best ways to start to live your dream is to utilize crowdfunding in your efforts, hence I wrote a book merging many of these seemingly dissimilar concepts together. My book is entitled “Startup Fever, How Crowdfunding Will Rebuild the American Dream.” Which you can purchase here http://tinyurl.com/neff8j8 in either Ebook or Print…
Until next time…

Enjoy your day and remember, drinking a cup a day of overpriced locally owned coffee shop coffee can help you feel better about pretty much anything…
