Comfort, Kills Dreams

-

Some studies suggest we are creatures of habit, creating limits around what gives us the most comfort. I mean.. Test the idea- are things you are unaware about, or are new to knowing, can't they be scary? Not knowing, can lead to fear, and Lord knows what happens to our brain when fear creeps in. Personally, I'd beg to differ by saying we are becoming creatures of control. Routines and comfort zones assist in helping us feel as though we have some sort of control over our lives- A handle on it all. What we've really done by creating comfort zones, is we have crafted a "gated-in" area around our true potential. Couldn't we agree that routine, and doing the same thing, the SAME way- Forever... Inhibits growth?

Comforts, Habits, and a Refreshed Mindset

Some studies suggest we are creatures of habit, therefore creating limits around what gives us the most comfort. I mean.. Test the idea- are things you are unaware about, or new to knowing, can’t they be scary? Often than not, not knowing can lead to fear.  Lord knows what happens to our brain when fear creeps in.  I’d beg to differ by saying we are becoming creatures of control. Routines and comfort zones assist in helping us feel as though we have some sort of control over our lives- A handle on it all. What we’ve really done by creating comfort zones, is we have crafted a “gated-in” area around our true potential. Couldn’t we agree that routine, and doing the same thing, the SAME way- Forever… Inhibits growth?

How can we grow if we are too afraid to step outside of our self-imposed limitations? If we believe we are creatures of habit.. How can we then maximize this need for consistent habits and routines in a positive way? It’s simple really. You have to reprogram it all. Your mind, perception, faith, and your beliefs. They all play an integral part on the amount of success, or lack there of, that you will achieve in your life. If what you have learned up until this point is not helping you, wouldn’t it be wise to try another method?

Luckily, as humans we have the profound ability to CHOOSE, how we will live our lives. Either in comfort, or on the edge conquering our dreams- Because really, chasing our dreams can be quite scary.

I have found that the key is to learn yourself. To be self-reflective, and not critical of who you are, and areas in your life that are simply dead. Unmoved, not evolving or growing. Habits, and comforts, you are well aware that you have. I believe God absolutely has a sense of humor, because EVERTHING that surrounds us, gives us clues about ourselves. We are like trees with deep roots; given the potential to grow for a lifetime.  Through meditation, or any self-reflective tool, (I love meditation) analyze the thoughts that run through your mind, and understand whether they are coming from  a place of love or fear? Take note of the thoughts you have the most, because they are creating your here, and now.  Either place will propel you towards, or away from your dreams. If it’s not from a place of love, joy, or excitement.. let it go.

Noticing the keyword to releasing those places of comfort is; CHOOSE.

You have to choose to be GREAT!

Therefore life works like this- either you can fall backward into your comfort zones, or forward into areas that make you uncomfortable. Even if that means failing until you get it right. Once you choose to take risks and step outside of your gated area, the obstacles you once feared become obsolete. BADA-BING!  Now the overcoming of the fears themselves,  gives you the courage to overcome them in the future. Not to mention gaining incredible strength for ups and downs that you may encounter in the future.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?

Listen, I know ideas and dreams often seem unrealistic, and far-fetched… But, Hey! We’re all really just on this floating ball, in the middle of space, still unsure as to why we’re really here! (Relax-Enjoy the ride) In the middle of a limitless Universe, created to give you what you dare to believe in. Why not DREAM BIG? Ultimately you can choose to be a bird that flies.. Or you can be a bird that CHOOSES to be caged. Comfort, is where your dreams will die. It is a space where you will feel stifled, yearning, and continually searching for more. Your choice is to be a creature that develops habits and routines of success, by allowing your whole soul to believe in your dreams.

Most of all, understand that YOU can take control of your world- by choosing to chase the big dreams you have within you! What step will you take today towards them? No matter how small, make them. Keep Making Them.

Unsure of your path? Just keep searching. As a result; you’ll get there, but you must move.

Lastly I’d like to share with you analogy that I share with others about  Michael Jackson in “Billie Jean.” Remember as he moved, the sidewalk lit up. Life works JUST like this. As you move, the path will light up. If you stay still, I can guarantee nothing will happen for you. Guaranteed. So what choice will you make? Will you move beyond comforts, into the unknown? Or will you stay nice, and snug in your ways, while dreaming only while you sleep?

Comfort Kills Dreams! Personally, I’d rather die trying, than to live wishing I took those chances.
