5 Ways to Stand Out and Be More Authentic!

-

1.Stop Shopping at Corporate Chain Clothing Stores…

Create your own shirts/products on zazzle.com, or buy stuff from local shops or Etsy.

We live in 2017, the era of personal stylistic expression… For better or for worse, people judge each other based on outward appearances. Wearing a brand is for cattle… that’s where the term comes from if you didn’t know…

If your identity lies in someone else’s brand aka Apple, Patagonia, Louis Vouton, etc… You have been brainwashed… You have usually purchased an expensive logo on a sweatshop product, so you can feel good about yourself and fit in with other logo-abiding folks… It’s ok, we have all been there, I wore logos for years, but let’s stop drinking the kool-aid and wear/make our own shit….. Nothing against Chinese goods, there are some fine people over there, but really let’s take it upon ourselves to support our local economies where possible, and set ourselves apart from the herd in the process…

2. Stop Listening To Radio…
Yeah, this seems like an obvious one, but the radio has been compromised of tasteless corporate whores of every variety. So stop feeding into that diabolical system of bad radio. We all want better radio, but first, these assholes who run it now have to go bankrupt first. Then they may start to change formats into something more original/listenable. As of now, radio, by and large, is pushing society into an escapist, consumerist, narcissistic, black hole. Toxic pollution for the mind and spirit by and large. If you want good tunes, you need to go find them! I will excuse certain forms of satellite and college radio stations, but other than that find new music from the radio in other countries via your iPhones if you must. I like France, they have better American alternative music than America has. Also, Mexico has badass grunge as well. New York has some good underground non-demonic (aka dubstep) electronica as well.

3.Make Your Own Playlists…
This one kinda goes along with the last one, but we live in the age of Spotify… Granted Spotify pays musicians peanuts, but hey, they signed the contract so it is what it is… This is by far the best way to get unique jams… The future of music is still in the fiscal dumps, but perhaps that’s because they were all too busy getting high, and somehow forgot they also needed to make a living… Just saying… Point being, make a playlist, or if you must, steal some of the amazing free playlists available on Spotify… In fact, unique playlists make great gift ideas, I used this as a gift for a friend this past Christmas, and the ones that actually listened to my mix were floored… Unique, classy, fun gift in my opinion!

4.Stop Judging Yourself For Not Having Enough Materialist Stuff…
What you don’t have in material stuff, you can make up for in wits, and smarts. People love others who bring value in other forms… Work on building your character, and virtues in your life… If people don’t like you, who gives a damn. News flash… You’re never going to get along with most people if you’re a true individual, as you represent a threat to their way of life. Not to mention many adults have the emotional intelligence of high schoolers… You’re gonna have haters in life no matter what you do or who you are… Some people will hate you for not having enough stuff, others will hat you for having too much, still, others will hate you because you’re a nicer person than them. Whatever the case, screw everybody else, and worry about yourself because, at the end of the day, you are the only one that can make you happy!

5.Do Your Own Thing
Yuppies congregate in large social setting such as bars taverns and pubs, creating “memories” that they will largely forget due to inebriation. Being more authentic involves creating actual memories for yourself. Heres a thought, have a sober memory, put down your smartphone, and take a second to take in the moment with your 5 senses using the original smartphone, YOUR MIND! Memories are little pieces that create your sense of self, and build positive reinforcement in your subconscious of your own greater potential.

This actually makes you more unique, as you can draw upon these positive memories at any point in your life to remember who you truly are, and what you have been able to accomplish in spite of obstacles. Remembering the good times gives us strength in the bad times… If you were too drunk to remember the “good times” then you’re only going to remember the bad ones. So create some memories of helping others, engaging in unique creative activities, creating a meaningful legacy and having meaningful interactions with other people you truly care about…

Remember those who think they have a group of friends have a few, and those who have a lot of friends have none. When the chips are down, half of these “friends” won’t pull you out of a burning car. They will say, to hell with it, at least I didn’t get burned; but he was a nice guy/gal tho.

let me know what you think!

Just trying to keep it real over here…
